PSD Foundation Funds 2011 SPIE Grant Recipients

The Poudre School District Foundation Funds announced grant recipients on November 10 and 11 for the 2011 Supporting Partnerships in Innovative Education (SPIE) grants from the Innovative Programs Fund.

1566 The 13 grant recipients — representing elementary, middle, high and one charter school from the Poudre School District — received more than $42,000 collectively from the SPIE grant program. Grants were announced November 10 and 11 at schools with balloons and checks presented by the grant selection committee and Board Directors. Recipients were surrounded by celebrating staff and students. The grant funding will directly impact PSD students through classroom initiatives ranging from math, science, and technology programs to collaborative programs for literacy and the arts.

SPIE grants are designed to encourage innovative and creative educational approaches to accomplish Poudre School District’s mission, “To Educate Every Child, Every Day.” Since the inception of the SPIE and E3 (for 2 years, E3 of the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado added $20,000 per year) grant programs, a total of $751,628 has been awarded to Poudre School District teachers and staff.

1563 "SPIE grants are a creative way of rewarding teachers who develop innovative ideas for enhancing learning in the classroom--inspiring kids!”  said Barbara Wallner, President of the Poudre School District Foundation. “The grants are funded by donations to the PSD Foundation, and without the money the grants provide, the teachers could not afford to purchase materials from funding provided in the ever-shrinking school budgets. Often, the programs continue for years after the initial funding was received--the ultimate hope of donors to the Foundation."

The Poudre School District Foundation Funds work as a partner to the Poudre School District to support programs and fulfill needs that positively impact student achievement through private community donations. Foundation Social December 2011

The Poudre School District Foundation hosted a social event honoring the 13 SPIE grant recipients, the grant committee, current board members, and retiring board members in December.

Grant recipients received more than $42,000 collectively from the SPIE grant program.  The PSD Foundation greatly appreciates the financial support of the community that makes these grants possible!  Additionally, the Foundation wouldn't exist without the dedication of past and present board members. Thank you!
