Transition Series Meeting

A series of meetings designed to help parents of students with disabilities will address some of the most pressing issues families face when students transition from school into adults living in the community.

Transition meetings, which are for special needs students 14 and older and their families, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m.,  on the first floor of the Larimer County Courthouse, 200 W. Oak. Light refreshments will be served at all meetings and there will be question and answer period following each presentation.

Thursday, Feb. 23 -Transition Programs and Opportunites Post High School:

Peter Pike, Colorado WINS program at the University of Colorado in Denver, will give a presentation titled "What is Transition?"

A panel discussion on transition services will also be presented. Agencies participating in the panel discussion include Community Connections, Project Search, Cooper Home, School to Work Alliance Program, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, Foothills Gateway and Larimer County Workforce Center, Youth Services.

Thursday, March 22 - Legal Night Workshop:

A local attorney will give a presentation about guardianship, power of attorney, and special needs trusts.

Thursday, April 26 - Community Resource Fair and Employment Opportunities:

Representatives will be on hand from Foothills Gateway Rehabilitation, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, Larimer ARC, School to Work Alliance Program, and the Larimer County Workforce Center, Youth Services.
