The 3rd annual Lesher Bike-to-School week was a huge success thanks to the great support and participation of the Lesher staff, students, parents, and local business partners.
The Lesher Middle School, an International Baccaluareate school, bicycle celebration included many events like bike rodeos, equipment giveaways and raffles, and a biker breakfast. In addition, six bicycles were refurbished and given to students who did not have one.
By the end of the week, Lesher staff and students had biked a cumulative 2,500 miles. That distance is equivalent to biking from Los Angeles to Orlando or from Disneyland to Disneyworld! This also resulted in over 30,000 calories burned and prevented almost a ton and a half of carbon emissions from being released into the atmosphere.
Who knows what might be accomplished next year? Thank you to all who passed up using gas during our bike week and Lesher's generous partners who made this event possible including: Full Cycle Bikes, Recycled Cycles, Lee’s Cyclery, The Phoenix Cyclery, The City of Fort Collins, Fort Collins Bike Library, The Fort Collins Bike Co-Op, Lesher PTO, PVH Health Kids Club, Jimmy John’s, Lyric Cinema Café, The Cupboard, Burt’s Shirts, Mary’s Mountain Cookies, King Soopers, The Chocolate Café, Whole Foods, The Right Card, Kilwin’s, 10,000 Villages, Starry Night, Nordy’s BBQ, Old Chicago, and Red Tandem Studio.
