Two Poudre School District counselors have been named counselor of the year at the elementary and secondary school levels by the Colorado School Counselor Association.

Jen Smela, counselor at Fossil Ridge High School, has been awarded the Colorado High School Counselor of the Year award.

Ann Lawler-Perry, counselor at Cache La Poudre Elementary, has been awarded the Colorado Elementary School Counselor of the Year award.

In each of these categories, only one school counselor in Colorado is given the award. Smela and Lawler-Perry were honored at CSCA's conference award dinner in Vail on Nov. 10.

CSCA is the state division of the American School Counselor Association, and represents the more than 1,600 school counselors in Colorado.
