History
Linton Elementary School opened fall 1989 and was named after Wayne and Shirley Linton; two dedicated Fort Collins educators. The Lintons still live in our neighborhood and visit us often!
Learning culture
Our school is a caring, welcoming and dynamic place! Linton is designated as a Positive Behavior Support (PBS) school and actively reinforces our P.R.I.D.E. Code. This model establishes and maintains a safe and effective school environment that maximizes academic achievement and behavior competence. Linton’s dedicated staff provides a supportive, enriching learning environment in which all students thrive.
Academic environment
Our curriculum is aligned with Colorado and PSD content standards. With a focus on literacy and math, our staff differentiates to ensure that all students are successful in a rigorous setting. Our school also values educating the “whole child” and provides full time specials and numerous other offerings. A school-wide literacy model, FLUDD (Focused Literacy Using Differentiated Delivery), enables students to receive small group, ability leveled instruction. Linton provides full- and half-day kindergarten programs. First- and second- grade students stay with the same teacher for two years.
Instructional & enrichment programs
Enrichment activities include Battle of the Books, ECO Week, gifted and talented support, Math Olympiad, student council, Lego Robotics, yearbook, Linton Pride Choir, Linton Mileage Club, and intramurals. Two after-school enrichment programs enable Linton students to participate in high-interest learning opportunities in six to eight week sessions. Other opportunities include Linton Idol, family art show dinner, family game nights, and donuts with dads. Linton also has a before and after school care program.
Opportunities for parents
Linton has an active PTO that plays an integral role in our school community. In addition, our “Father’s of the Pride” group creates additional opportunities for our dads to become involved. Volunteers are highly encouraged and typically log more than 5,000 hours annually! Linton’s School Improvement Team meets regularly to give input on staffing, budget, goals, and procedures.
