History
Tavelli Tavelli Elementary School, named for PSD teacher Anna Tavelli, opened in 1968; its latest major remodel was in 1992.

Learning culture
Tavelli is a remarkable school located in northern Fort Collins. We are proud of our diverse student body and talented staff and are committed to excellence in academics, wellness, and character education.

Tavelli incorporates health, nutrition, and fitness into its rigorous curriculum, which is created to ensure literacy, numeracy, technology, the arts, and ultimately, a lifelong love of learning. A high quality teaching staff and strong collaborative teams have given our community a great deal of confidence in the education their children receive.

Academic environment
Tavelli is committed to helping each student make a year’s growth or more annually by providing challenging curriculum and supportive interventions. A 14,000 book media center, two computer labs, Smart Boards, a Classroom Performance System, a weather station, a fitness center, and nature center all support our learning goals, standards-driven curriculum, and activities.

Instructional & enrichment programs
Our Going Beyond program provides support for students needing the highest levels of intervention (mainly math). Title I reading and math, a special primary tutoring program in reading, and special education classes are also available. Dream Team, a unique before-school peer mentoring program, develops leadership skills in 6th graders and enhances reading, writing, and math skills for younger students. Computer programs (e.g., Accelerated Reader and Math), Junior Great Books (JGB), Odyssey of the Mind (OM), chess, science, etc., provide assorted opportunities for motivated learners. Half-day and full-day kindergarten classes plus before- and after-school childcare are available.

Opportunities for parents
Tavelli welcomes parent involvement. We have an active wellness committee that is made up of parents, students, teachers, administrators, health professionals, and educators. We support the research that states; a healthy and active child achieves more academically.
